New Zealand Monkfish is sometimes called Stargazer here in Australia. It’s got a firm, fleshy and moist texture with a sweet flavour reminiscent of lobster – in fact it’s sometimes called the "poor man’s lobster" and its fillets are also thick and hefty like lobster tails.
It’s a versatile option that can be baked, barbequed, poached, steamed, fried or served in soup. Monkfish is rich in protein, phosphorus, vitamins B6 and B12, and selenium.
